My Thoughts on the The Zimmerman Verdict

After the verdict this weekend I have heard many insensitive comments including the same ol’ same ol’ “get over it”. We don’t need to get over it we need to deal with it, deal with these racial issues in real substantive way, real discussions that means there will be some cussing some anger but it is well past time that people discuss the racial history of this country in diverse groups and in a brutally honest way. The unequal access to education and the unequally in the justice system that brought the feelings of this weekend to the surface. Because the reality is these feelings have been under the surface since the last highly publicized unjust verdict which was almost 21 years ago. The Rodney King verdict didn’t set the stage for this but was just a conformation of what went on before the height in the civil rights movement and during and sadly after. To sum my thoughts up on this whole thing is we keep hearing about how America is supposed to be a melting pot that has not fully come to fruition until we deal with each other in real way and realize that we as one nation can not make it without one another………………..

The Underground Experience Feature 1/25/010

We start this first Underground Experience Feature with and emcee that reps NC with a throwback vibe so come with me as I chop it up with Ronnie Run.- Mistajay

ronnie run The Underground Experience Feature 1/25/010

Mistajay:What is the story and conception behind your emcee name?

Ronnie Run:By me being a true hip hop fan I love Run DMC and I grew up on RunDMC ,LL Cool J ,Rakim, BDP(KRS-One) and more. So I took Run’s name and add it to my name which is Ronnie and came up with Ronnie Run.

Mistajay:What area are you reppin?

Ronnie Run:I am reppin Winterville,NC 252 all day everyday!

Mistajay:What are your influences of your music? And what inspires you?

Ronnie Run:My influences are my everyday surroundings and what I do in a day’s time. I am not a gangsta or a thug but I do knows some gangstas and some thugs. So why would I say stuff which I dont do you feel me??. So God is my influences and music wise is Ice Cube,Ludacris,Jay-Z ,Rakim,LL,Rick Ross 2Pac,Biggie,amd the list goes on. My daughter really inspires me to do what I do because she has to eat and so do I but its more focus on her then me.

Mistajay:How do you describe your style?

Ronnie Run: I would say my style is Retro kinda of a throwback style.

Mistajay:What is your best song recorded to date and why?

Ronnie Run: I Remember” is one of my favorite songs because I am remembering everything that I use to do when I was growing up. Everybody can relate to this song from any hood and any ghetto you feel me. This song is starting to really catch a huge buzz online and on alot of actual radio stations.

Mistajay:If you could share the stage with any 3 artists or bands who are still around and touring, who would they be and why?

Ronnie Run:I would say Drake, Ice Cube, and Ludacris. These 3 people can sell out a concert real quick!

Mistajay:Where do you see the hip hop going in 2011? How do you see yourself fitting into that?

Ronnie Run:I see hip hop going in a different direction that everybody is waiting to see it go and that’s a good thing as long as everybody supports each other. I see myself fitting in very well because everybody is stuck on what’s hot and not looking at talent and skills. But the industry has got alot people heads twisted right now. All I can say is stay focused and be smooth and everything will be alright.

Mistajay:What are your future plans?

Ronnie Run:My future plans is to work on another album and drop another single for the radio. Also drop my first mixtape called”Local Hood Star”.

Mistajay:Any last thoughts?

Ronnie Run:Stay true to yourself and not be a copy cat because it will get you nowhere. Shouts out to Deka Records ,all my NC Music heads :Flawless,Ben Harrell,Big Hop,Hookz,Young Fres and Hoodleague Records,Derty Den,Shelly B, Sallah D and the whole Hydr Records,Manifest,Timeless Beats,LQ,DJ B-Ski,Brice Reese, Hugg E. Bear,Mica Swain,Barry-Bee,Skee Monee(KISS 102),C-Dub(92.1),Big Abe(Foxy 99),Rain, D-Train& Paul Andre(Power 95.5) SkiBeats, and more. If I forgot you dont take it personal. The Deens Office Album by SpeaK no E.

So finally!!  After about 3 years of work on The Deens Office the official word is that all recording on SpeaK no E’s first solo album was completed yesterday, October 30, 2008.  The album features guest appearances by QB, 5th Letter of The Empire, Jay Spitta, Perrelli P, and the CEO of Livin Lavish Entertainment, JQ.  Contributing producers are Vintage, Prince Imperial of The Empire, Mic Will and Speak himself.  With a few more tweaks, added samples and a few mixing modifications, the first final copies of The Deens Office will begin circulating on Monday Nov 3.  Until then, a small batch of 50 rough copies of The Deens Office will be released and passed out for free tonight at the Halloween Masquerade Party taking place at the Bliss Wine Cafe in Bel Camp Maryland.  Typically a Jazz venue with a very elegant and classy interior, the Bliss Wine Cafe is more than suited for entertaining the grown and sexy All Hallows Eve goers.  Guess who will also be the DJ for the party?  That’s right…SpeaK no E. himself.  Happy Halloween to everyone.

~SpeaK no E.~      a.k.a. Travis Duanway
