Mistajay:What is the story and conception behind your emcee name?

Tony K aka K YNOT: It’s my first name and first letter from my last name, spelled backwards it becomes K YNOT and that’s something that I live by ok why not? its the way I look at life.

Mistajay:What area are you reppin? What is the hip hop scene like there?

Tony K aka K YNOT: I guess you could say I am repping Detroit, MI the scene here has gotten better recently more artists are getting love, I am proud to be repping the same place that gave us Eminem, Kid Rock, and Big Sean to name a few.

Mistajay:You were introduced to Hip-Hop music at a young age listening to Biggie, Nas, NWA, Jay - Z, DMX, Eminem and your favorite rapper and greatest influence Tupac Shakur what else influences your music? And what inspires you?

Tony K aka K YNOT: I am also influenced by other genres of music such as rock, pop, and classical. I am pretty much inspired by life anything I see around me can inspire me to write a song.

Mistajay:How do you describe your style?

Tony K aka K YNOT: I would say I am Hip-Hop with substance not just your everyday usual, I try to have meaning behind my music to inspire others.

Mistajay:What is your best song recorded to date and why?

Tony K aka K YNOT: I don’t know if I can answer this one as an artist everything I work on I like or I won’t put it out, but the songs that have more meaning and a message behind them are the ones I like the most.

Mistajay:You have worked with Trick Trick, singers Kevin Lyttle, Karl Wolf, and Massari doing shows in Detroit, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Canada. On the production side you have worked with Kurupt, Royce Da 5′9″, Swifty Mc Vay, Kobe, The Outlawz, Ya Boy, Willie Da Kid, Scoe, and Big Herk on various projects.  If you could share the stage with any 3 artists or bands who are still around and touring, other than those you have previously worked with who would they be and why?

Tony K aka K YNOT: I would probably like to share the stage with Kanye West he always seems to put on over the top productions and his creativity is inspiring, Eminem would be another it would just be cool to be able to work with someone that’s gotten as far as he has with all the odds against him, and last I would say Kendrick Lamar he is new and has come a long way in a very short time period.

Mistajay:A lot of artists come into the game with a lot of ambition but don’t spend time learning the business side. How important to you is learning about publishing and royalties?

Tony K aka K YNOT: It is very important to know the business publishing could make you a lot of money and if you do not know your business it can make someone else a lot of money that you could of had, learn as much as you can do your research.

Mistajay:What was your feeling after being invited on the Tyra Banks show for remixing the shows theme song on her REDO’s episode?

Tony K aka K YNOT: It was exciting it felt good to be recognized for my talents, it was a good experience.

Mistajay:Where do you see the hip hop going in 2014? How do you see yourself fitting into that?

Tony K aka K YNOT: I see it transitioning into a more positive direction which works well with a lot of the music I am putting out.

Mistajay:What are your future plans? What impact do you plan to make with future projects?

Tony K aka K YNOT: My plans are to just keep working and becoming a better artist to hopefully one day be able to inspire the world.

Mistajay:Any last thoughts?

Tony K aka K YNOT: yea make sure to download my new mixtape YNOT! haha
