Mistajay: What is the story and conception behind your artist name?

Pawz1: I got it from a pet store I used to work at. nah it actually comes from graffitti. I used to paint before I started to MC

Mistajay: What area are you reppin? What is the hip hop scene like there?

Pawz1: I’m in LA. born and raised and the scene is wasteland now. You can see the craters where dope venues once stood and the skeletons of fans who used to frequent shows.

Mistajay: What are your influences of your music? And what inspires you?

Pawz1: Jesus. well not Jesus but let me think for second. It can come from anywhere to be honest I try not to look at as a certain well I go to or went to for inspiration, I just feed off vibes and snatch things out the air. Influence wise its a mess. I go from Kool G rap to Judah Friedlander and a small dash of Jesus sprinkled in there somewhere.

Mistajay: How do you describe your style?

Pawz1: R A W. r.eally a.wkward w.hy ? still workin that one out I guess. Definitely dont wanna sound like someone else for sure but im very happy with the rappers im compared too so its all good.

Mistajay: What is your best song recorded to date and why?

Pawz1: I have no idea. people seem to really like this track I have with Masta Ace called “the luv” off my first album. The beats dope, hooks catchy and then of course there’s Ace. Other tracks people always bring up is a song called “officer down” and “blood brothers” I usually leave it up to fans to tell me what tracks they think are the best.

Mistajay: You have worked with seasoned artists and producers such as Ras Kass, Termanology, Masta Ace, Domingo, DJ Rhettmatic, Madchild who else would you like to work with?

Pawz1: Dead or alive? If its dead then i’d say Sean P we were workin on something before he passed R.I.P but that unfortunately didnt get finished. Alive i’d say Black Thought. producer wise Im going with Dilla and Muggs

Mistajay: You have toured nationally and overseas with Sean Price, Necro, EL Da Sensei (Artifacts) & AG (D.I.T.C) as well various independent tours.  If you could share the stage with any other 3 artists or bands who are still around and touring, who would they be and why?

Pawz1: Ah, good one. Eminem because of his crowd and platform, Drake because of all the chicks and Cardi B for obvious reasons.

Mistajay: Alot of artists come into the game with a lot of ambition but don’t spend time learning the business side. How important to you is learning about publishing and royalties?

Pawz1: It’s real important to learn that side of the game first I think and stick to it. especially since alot of other revenue streams are drying up.

Mistajay: Where do you see the music going in 2018? How do you see yourself fitting into that?

Pawz1: Well the years almost over so I guess i’ll know in a few months. 2019 is gonna be great though cuz I have a ton of new music coming out with different producers and MC’s like AG, we have an Ep together.

Mistajay: You have performed at such events and festivals as Hip-Hop Kemp (Czech republic)

N.Y cannabis parade, SXSW, Abra Ca Dabs festival, Vans warped tour, A3C and more.

Featured on outlets such as Power 106FM ,hiphopDX,, 2 dopeboyz, Shade45, VICE magazine as well various radio shows, magazines and Websites throughout the world. How has that improved your visibility and what TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER ARTISTS TO GET TO THE VENUES AND OUTLETS?

Pawz1: Some of those have been great and others not so much. Shade45 was definitely a big help with my first album. HHK was the best time of my life as an artist. My advice is make friends and be social or have enough moeny to pay someone else whos good at that to get you in the door.

Mistajay: What are your future plans?

Pawz1: I’m gonna build up my catalog and keep touring honestly. I wanna reach as many human beings as I can with my music

Mistajay: Any last thoughts?

Pawz1: Yeah thanks to everyone who read this far into the interview. and extra credit to those with ADD that hung in there to find out about who PAWZ ONE is and why he has the millions of fans does.

Mistajay: Where can fans follow you and get your music?

Pawz1: This should’ve been question #2 cuz of the whole ADD thing but @pawz1 on all social media and Im everywhere! itunes, Spotify and if you have a record store I probably have some cd’s or vinyl in there too.
