dj skroog mkduk THE UNDERGROUND EXPERIENCE 5 13 013

Mistajay: What is the story and conception behind your DJ name?

Skroog Mkduk: My DJ name s similar to my nickname in my neighborhood. Its not the same but its close. And if you remember the cartoon “Ducks Tales” what me and scrooge mcduck have in common is where both swimming in chips.

Mistajay: What area are you reppin? What is the hip hop scene like there?

Skroog Mkduk: Im reppin Harlem, NYC (Dyckman St) but now im down in Charlotte, NC. There really is no music scene in Charlotte but im looking to change that in the upcoming months.

Mistajay: What are your influences of your music? And what inspires you?

Skroog Mkduk: I don’t have any musical influences. My inspiration comes from all my homies that died for this success and all my homies in the feds with life and 40-50 year sentences.

Mistajay: How do you describe your style?

Skroog Mkduk: Im the party rocking DJ. I run through about 300 songs every time that I DJ.

Mistajay: What is your best project recorded to date and why?

Skroog Mkduk: My best project is “The New Wave 4 DVD“. That DVD received 90,000 views in 3 weeks. It should hit 100,000 in the next few weeks. Check it out on shot97.com.

Mistajay: If you could share the stage with any 3 artists or bands who are still around and touring, who would they be and why?

Skroog Mkduk: Jay Z because his show is ridiculous. He has an easy 2-4 hours of straight hits. Busta Ryhmes because his stage presence and energy is un matched. 50 Cent because the check would probably be the biggest Djing for him.

Mistajay: Where do you see the hip hop going in 2013? How do you see yourself fitting into

that?

Skroog Mkduk: Hip Hop is going the same place it is now. It’s pretty boring because there isn’t a fresh layer of new blood. There an artist here and there but there’s not 15 new artist coming at one time. Battle rap is getting bigger and bigger and that exciting to watch. I will fit in just fine because all I have to do is spin records.

Mistajay: What are your future plans?

Skroog Mkduk: My future plans are to help indie artist get to the next level through my platforms and develop my platforms to reach a broader audience.

Mistajay: Any last thoughts? Where can fans follow you and get your music?

Skroog Mkduk: Follow me on twitter @skroogmkduk. Come be apart of The New Wave Movement.
