This Months feature is an artist working to build his brand lets take a meeting with……BCH CEO
Mistajay: What is the story and conception behind your artist name?
BCH CEO: The story behind my actual rap name "Tony Tone Montana '' is being a big fan of the Scarface movie . I would watch it back to back and I studied his hunger as a hustler , a go-getter ; however as I got older , I realized the image that he held wasn't something I wanted to continue to have . I have kids now and I wanted to at least focus my energy on the hustler side of him so I changed it to TONE . TONE being a key factor in music . Since the name was common , I wanted to just be called by the title of my own brand :BCH CEO. At the moment , I am focusing on building my brand more .
Mistajay: What area are you reppin? What is the hip hop scene like there?..
BCH CEO: The hip hop / rap scene in my area Tallulah , Louisiana . which is the northeast part of Louisiana . It's very supportive . the community , support their local artist . When I moved back home (2012) I wanted to help artists develop their music style/ brand so I opened a public studio and I would record music videos to that same song , do artwork for them and help push the whole city as a whole . Once I got most of the talent recorded , I eventually put people in position with owning their own studio and would teach them how to basically record their own music and show them the in's and out's with their presets I built .
Mistajay: What are your overall influences of your music? And what inspires you?
BCH CEO: My current influence with my music is my daughter who I raised by myself . I wanted to show her that she can use her resources , her skills to build her own company to be a CEO . My life is what I currently talk about since I have a lot going on at the moment . I speak about the hardships , the things I witness being a child being around the hustle game . I witness things that most children shouldn't see , however instead of going the route of being "hustler" I use that same blueprint but with my music , my graphic designing skills which is why I took a liking to the whole Tony Montana persona .
Mistajay: How do you describe your style of hip-hop?
BCH CEO: My style of music is gritty , but motivational , hustler ambition , grind music , music for the streets .
Mistajay: What is your best song recorded to date and why?
BCH CEO: At the moment I have three songs that I haven't released yet which I think shows my growth as a man . No cursing timeless music i would say because its content that most people can relate to , things i went through in this last year (being a single father , my child being raised by me full time , due to a separation between me and my wife)
Mistajay: If you could work with any other 3 artists or bands who are still around and touring, who would they be and why?
BCH CEO: The bands that i would love to work with ,Three 6 Mafia ( DJ Paul , Juicy J ). I have a song with Crunchy Black currently out and I have a song with Frayser Boy on the way . I would love to work with Project Pat , Chat ,DJ Paul & Juicy J more so on the Production side because their beats are fire . I was influenced by them in my teenage years and I started getting serious and would form my style around the tempo of the beats and learn how to formualte verses by rapping their bars , eventually I started replacing the words with my own . LLBOO , LLKOOP ,LLLORD . I would love to work with Rick Ross , Ye as well since there are musical genius to me
Mistajay: A lot of artists/producers come into the game with a lot of ambition but don’t spend time learning the business side. How important to you is learning about publishing and royalties?
BCH CEO: I took time to learn the business side of things and started to understand that the music business is about 80-90 percent business , and the remaining is talent as far as the business goes . I will always have the passion , the drive to be a musician as I get more into the business side. I started to take it more seriously as a career which means I would have to become about building my family;s generation wealth along with supporting my team;s family legacy .
Mistajay: Where do you see the hip hop going in 2024? How do you see yourself fitting into that?
BCH CEO: I see music repeating itself , I also see that it will be dominated by Female Musicians which will be cool to happen since it has always been a male's sport . I see myself playing the role as a manager since I took a lot of time learning the business side . I will always love to do music as a career , but I would love to spend more time with my family which is why I would love to have a family owned label , however I would love to help change other artists' lives once the time is here .
Mistajay: What expectations did you have before this and for your next project?
BCH CEO: The expectations I have with music is that I will continue to speak my story . I will continue to drop this heat and hopefully it helps people with their own situations and motivates them to keep going !
Mistajay: How has covid 19 situation affected your plans as related to music?
BCH CEO: When covid hit , I was more in father , husband mode . I put more effort into being a supportive husband since my wife before we separated . I became more goal oriented and started doing more graphic designing . I figured since I have designing skills , why not just work from home , and since People were told to stay home , make money as if my graphic designer job was "real '' I would give so many deals to build and establish my brand. I would screen shot all my references , shout outs and flood the internet with those so people knew I wasn't a scam artist since its common in the graphic world. I would use the drug dealing method , buy 1 get 1 half off . there would be times where I would push about 10 clients on a slow day . Once I gain my amount I sat for the day , I would invest the remaining into dog breeding , I would invest the other part into music equipment , and also camera equipment to shoot music videos etc . I wouldn't pay for ads ,since I was already home I would manually market my own music since I started studying marketing and promotion on my own . I would wake up early before everyone cooked breakfast and grind 9am - 9pm . Covid was a serious time , so I wanted to help people keep busy with my graphics and working their imaginations. Sometimes they would want motion graphics , dog breeding banners and of course music artwork .
Mistajay: You have plans to release two new projects, one titled Enigma and a sophomore album titled GO GET IT. What are your other future plans?.
BCH CEO: I released a track called "go get it" feat Belo of Do or Die. I ve released a few tracks with a few artists actually . At the moment , I plan on dropping an official cd called Hustle BLVD. I actually don't have a project named "Enigma" but I have so many unreleased songs I can possibly just drop whenever . I may have over 700 releases since all I do is record about 1-9 tracks a day .
Mistajay: Any last words?
BCH CEO: My last words are if you have skills , make sure you use it , harness the skills you have and turn it into your family's legacy . be the foundation of your empire and always use your resources , never misuse them ! Hustle or Starve #LLButta
